The Management Committee
The Management Committee meets bi-monthly. Its members are: Alex Goodman (barrister), Christine Hogg (Secretary), Justin Leslie (barrister), Dr Jonathan Fluxman (GP), Ed Ross (Treasurer), Dr Charmian Goldwyn (retired GP), Jon Burnett (researcher), and Dr Ben Robinson (psychiatrist).
The Executive meets bi-monthly. Its members are the Co-ordinator (Emma Mlotshwa), Jonathan Fluxman (Chair), Ed Ross (Treasurer,) and Christine Hogg (Secretary).
The ex-detainee committee is made up of people that Medical Justice assisted when they were previously detained. There are currently (March 2012) twelve members, including two women, some of whom now have leave to remain in the UK while others still have asylum and human rights claims pending. Their nationalities include Nigerian, Zimbabwean, Ugandan, Lebanese, Moroccan and Congolese.
The ex-detainee committee meets every month and its activities include;
- Sends three representatives to attend the bi-monthly Medical Justice management committee meetings.
- Provides speakers for Medical Justice public campaign meetings and other organisationsâ€™ events
- Writes text for Medical Justice research reports
- Assists with training Medical Justice volunteer doctors
The members of staff work with a network of about 45 regular volunteers
