Helping detainees in need of medical assistance

Involvement of People with Lived Experience

Medical Justice is assisted by a network of people who have been detained. The group advises the staff and trustees and some individuals with lived experience of detention are recruited as trustees.

Members speak at public meetings, speak to the media and assist in training volunteer doctors.

Training in public and media speaking is provided.

Three people with experience of detention are also trustees.

"Claiming asylum is like crossing a long bridge as narrow as a thread and beneath it is fire. There is no way I could have made it without Medical Justice ."
