Home Office healthcare policy, including:

• On Entry - Referral of passengers by the immigration officer to the port medical officer
• After entry/referred entry clearance - persons suffering from serious illness
• After entry - removal of psychiatric in-patients
• Inoculations and other preventative treatment (prophylaxis) for persons being removed from the UK

Note : after much Medical Justice lobbying and intervention in patients' legal cases, the Home Office changed it's policy on the provision of anti-malarials which is included below.

As from 13th November 2006 the Practice Direction has been amended to incorporate the paragraph 8A. It seems to reflect and amplify rather well the Ikarian Reefer principles.  

Medical Justice suggests that all members writing expert reports take note and ensure any reports they issue are compliant.
