BEHIND THE HEADLINES
The Hidden Faces and Needs of Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Topics to be covered:

1. Destitution & detention - effects of asylum legislation
2. Trauma and its emotional impact
3. BAIL and the practical help needed
4. Is God in Exile?

Speakers include ;
Cristel Amiss - Black Women's Rape Action Project
Emily Burnham - Bail for Immigration Detainees
Renée Cohen - Psychotherapist
Rev Paul Nicolson - Chair Zacchaeus 2000 Trust
Salima Sekinde - All African Women's Group

After each presentation a refugee will share experience.

10.00 - Registration
10.30  - Welcome etc.
10.45  - "Is God in Exile" with Rev Paul Nicolson
11.15  - Session with Renee Cohen, including discussion, questions and a refugee speaker
12.45 - Lunch and chance to network
1.45 - The legislative framework and consequences
2.15.   - BAIL and the practical help needed.
2.45    - Panel of Speakers
3.30    - Close

Bring lunch. Tea and coffee provided. Wheelchair accessible. Parking available. All are welcome, but please register before July 1st

Directions:
Bus : From Hammersmith 72 bus from first floor of shopping centre above tube station; From Putney Bridge 265 bus to Queen Mary's Hospital, opposite Roehampton University. 
Rail : Barnes station, then 72 bus or short walk. 
Car : A306 Roehampton Lane
