Medical Justice Oxford Steering Committee members are mostly from the various activists that have been campaigning on issues about Campsfield over the 13 years. 

Medical Justice Oxford is concerned with the needs of detainees in Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre outside Kidlington, 6 miles from Oxford. It is run by the GEO Group UK Ltd under guidelines issued by
the Home Office.

Campsfield House accommodates about 200 male asylum seekers. Most are political refugees fleeing danger, torture and even death from countries such as Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, Turkey, India and the Democratic Republic of Congo. They are held without charge, without time limit, without sufficient reasons given, and without proper access to legal representation.

Medical Justice Oxford recruits local doctors who, with training, give independent medical advice to detainees. Many referrals come through the volunteers from Asylum Welcome and Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID) who regularly visit detainees in Campsfield. Medical Justice arranges for medico legal reports
where necessary.

Medical Justice Oxford also campaigns for improved health care for detainees within the detention centre and outside facilities in Oxfordshire.

Meetings are held every three months and everyone is welcome.
