Are you a female refugee or asylum seeker who has been held in immigration detention in the UK? Would you like to have your say in research about how immigration detention affects women? An important piece of research is being carried by Karen Nicholls, a trainee clinical psychologist, concerning women's experiences of immigration detention. Medical Justice and Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID) is trying to assist Karen with contacting women who have been detained to invite them to take part in this study. Karen has limited funds for travel and expenses and can interview women where they wish, or in a private space in the Traumatic Stress Service at St George's Hospital in Tooting. She has a budget for interpreters if women need/prefer. This study has been reviewed by the academic board of the Salomons clinical psychology training programme and has received ethics approval from the Salomons Ethics Committee under Canterbury Christ Church University. It is being supervised by Dr Nick Lake, Clinical Psychologist and also by Professor Ian Robbins, Consultant Clinical Psychologist who is currently supervising a number of research projects investigating the impact of immigration detention. Karen is aiming for about 20-25 women to take part. Please contact her directly at: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or on 07949 637880. |
