The number of people claiming asylum In the UK has dropped from a high point of 84,000 per year in 2002 to around 25,000 per year at present.
That is lower than 1993 levels. The majority of asylum claims, (according to the most recent figures, relating to 2005) are from Somalia, Iran, Afghanistan China, Eritrea and Iraq. |
