Incidents of serious self-harm requiring medical treatment increased by 73% in the last 6 months vs. the previous 6 months.

There was a 27% increase in the second quarter of 2008 vs. the first quarter across the “detention estate” ; 300% at Colnbrook and 250% at Yarl’s Wood.
