GLOBAL HEALTH DIRECTIONS 3: COMMERCIALISATION AND HEALTH

The conference will open with a plenary exploring the influence of commercialisation on the NHS and health systems worldwide. We look forward to an exciting range of speakers discussing the positive and negative aspects of this increasingly critical issue. The afternoon will focus on more specific aspects of commercialisation, such as the effect of global trade institutions on health, Global Public Private Partnerships, and pharmaceutical companies and access to medicines.


Speakers include:

Dr Julian Tudor Hart - Swansea, UK.  Author of The Political Economy of Health Care.

Professor Maureen Mackintosh - Open University International Development Centre, UK

Dr Richard Smith – former editor of the BMJ, now Chief Executive Officer of United Healthcare Europe.

Dr Anna Holzscheiter - Center for Transnational Relations and Security olicy, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany

 


INTERNATIONAL HEALTH CAREERS FAIR

A host of organisations offering careers advice and opportunities will be present for this major Careers Fair aimed at all health professionals and allied disciplines. This is a unique opportunity for everyone with an interest in global health to receive advice and information from NGOs, postgraduate training institutions and experts in relevant fields.
